Since my Shellie pattern is camped over in loom class for a couple of weeks, I thought it would be fun to put out a little something to pass the time (wink, wink). So, without further ado, I give you Fun Fridgies – Part One!
Use any large gauge loom with at least three pegs. I used the Knifty Knitter Spool-Knitter.
Turtle Fridgie
Shell:
Use the 3 peg I-cord method.
Knit for 15 rows.
Bind off.
Coil in a circle and sew together with the yarn tails.
Head:
Use the 3 peg I-cord method.
Knit for 5 rows.
Bind off.
Sew to top of turtle shell.
Legs: Make 4
Use the 2 peg I-cord method.
Knit for 3 rows.
Bind off.
Sew to sides of turtle shell.
Tail:
Stick two loops at the end of the turtle back on a peg. Make a slip knot with your working yarn and place that above the loops connected to the turtle. Knit the bottom loops (from the turtle) over the top loops (from your working yarn). Wrap this peg again and knit off. Repeat this 3 times (for a total of 4 chains). Place the first loops (the two loops at the end of the turtle) back on the peg again. Knit off. Bind off and weave in the yarn tails.
Stitch eyes with black embroidery floss.
To make into a fridge magnet, glue a round magnet to the back of the turtle.
Lady Bug Fridgie
Body:
Follow instructions given for turtle shell.
Head:
Use the 2 peg I-cord method.
Knit for 5 rows
Bind off.
Fold in half and sew together with the yarn tails.
Sew head to body.
Stitch eyes with white embroidery floss and spots with black yarn.
To make into a fridge magnet, glue a round magnet to the back of the lady bug.
Now, just because I listed these as fridge decorations doesn’t mean you can’t get all creative here. Stick ‘em on bags, blankets, key fobs, hair clips, whatever. Have fun with them. Go nuts! Have a great day!
What? Oh, what about the Part One thing? Tune in tomorrow night for Fun Fridgies – Part Two! (Monkey and Froggie <wink, wink>)
