I’ve been a bit M.I.A. on this bloggie. Tons to do and not enough time in a day. Tonight, I was up having a somewhat serious talk with my oldest boy and his next youngest brother was downstairs yelling “Mom! I need your help!” More than twice. (insert wry chuckle) I was seriously thinking clones might not be a bad idea…
So, since I last posted, oldest kiddo has gotten nearly all better, kicked back up with the coughing and asthma, and has now settled into the almost better but still a moderate wheezing and a faint bubbling when he breathes. I hope he shakes it off completely this time around.
Alright, let’s peer back in the not too distant past now, shall we 😉
On October 1st, hubby and I reached our 16th wedding anniversary. We got my parents to take the kiddos the night before (they were going out of town Friday morning) and went out to dinner. As we were eating, an old gentleman came up and asked if I am being nice to hubby. Hubby quickly answered “Sometimes” The man said that his sweetie used to be nice to him too and that things changed when they got married. I still chuckle thinking about it. I have duly warned hubby that there is to be no hobbling along behind when we are very old so he can tell young couples that I “used to be nice” to him.
The following Saturday, Tianna and I were at what she calls “Wa-moo” to pick up a few things. We had been nearly all over the store, including the toy section and were in the office supplies when she noticed a poor little baby doll that was “lost”. I was not too concerned and told her the baby would be just fine but she fretted a little about the “poor baby” and that she must be sad that she was lost. So we packed up the little soft doll and took it back to the toy section. It’s sweet how happy it made my little girlie that we put this purple doll in our cart to take her back to be with all her “friends” 🙂 As we walked back toward the toys, my little gal said “We are such good gur-uls to save the baby, mom.” Love it!
Wednesday night found me at the dollar store picking up a fun tablecloth. I was approached by a sweet woman/girl (also a Jennifer, coincidentally) who shared her life story, her unhampered friendship, her telephone number (I checked with her mom first), and a new – or maybe renewed sense of blessings in all their shapes and deliveries. I came out of the store feeling so thankful for my blessings and even my challenges. I also felt a little wistful that we couldn’t all go about making best friends in 5 minutes and not think twice about sharing our telephone numbers.
Thursday found me at our neighborhood elementary doing a craft table. I thought it would be good to break out of the shell a bit. And I dragged a good friend along with me to keep me company. I ended the day thankful for my family and for friends that will sit with you for 3 hours just because you asked 🙂 Thank you, Carolyn! – Oh! And at the end of the night, we had a bit of a crafty swap between ourselves. So fun! Love the gifties, sweet friend!
Saturday, we all ran away for a whole day! We ran to the north and then to the south, hehe. I started out the day by sneaking off to a super crafty fun event with my buddy, Callie. Super-duper, fun! Then we loaded all the wild things up in the van and bundled them off to their grandparents. Hubby and I went off to Cache Valley for a bit. And of course, hubby just had to have cheese. Back we went to get the wild things and then away to Trolley Square for dinner. Wild, right? Packing in a ton of fun and then some? Yes!
Sunday, I crashed out a bit. Zonked. Slept for hours. Ah well. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a down day 🙂
Monday, school. Except, oldest had a Dr. appointment and hubby took time off to take him out to it. Then they walked behind the clinic to look at the “swamp”. And hubby caught a tiny fish with his bare hands. I asked if they washed and he said he told kiddo to when he got to school. Gross. That’s like half an hour ride with swampy hands, lol.
Today, school. Except, hubby took half a day off work due to a migraine so I got to sneak off for a little crafty store fun. Just me and girlie. Tianna saw the lettering on the side of the store and said. “See that, mom? That says Crafty Store.” Too cute 🙂
Tonight I asked oldest kiddo to help clean. He tends to be a bit work challenged so he whined and asked for an easy job. I don’t know why but it made me think of times that I’ve felt overwhelmed by challenges that I was facing and wanted things to be easier, prayed for things to be easier. I thought of the sense of pride my oldest kiddo would get from a more difficult job accomplished. I wouldn’t want him to miss that feeling. It’s a great feeling. Then I thought of the growth that comes from overcoming challenges and knew that the growth and sense of accomplishment we gain is worth the struggle 🙂
So that brings us current, I think. Wishing you all well!
